In a practice-based learning community there is a focus on continually improving one's practice.

The advent of ICT has made possible the development of communities online where "people now particpate in online
communities to share their expertise, experiences and knowledge. Some of these communities can be considered
as online CoPs (Wenger, McDermott and Snyder, 2002), which facilitate individuals to create, refine, share and use
knowledge effectively".
